Graphics – Heart
|
To make a nice heart graphic, first use the rectangle tool (R) to create a square (the color isn’t important at this point) (see Fig. 1-1). Be sure your grid is on (View>Grid>Show Grid; or CTRL+’), and that flash is snapping to it (View>Snapping>Snap to Grid; or CTRL+SHIFT+’). Once you have your square, use the oval tool (O) to create a circle along the upper edge of the square. It will need to be as wide as the square, with the square’s upper edge in its center (see Fig 1-2). Next, delete the circle’s stroke from its lower half (the part that is inside the square). Flash will automatically detect where the circle intersects the square and it will break the stroke for you, all you have to do is select it and delete it. Once you do that, use the free transform tool (Q) to rotate the shape by 45º. Be sure to move the origin point (the little circle that appears in the center of the transform box) to the lower left corner of the square and snap the rotation to 45º increments by holding shift while you drag (see Fig 1-3). Finally, clean up the extra geometry so you end up with one half of the finished heart (see Fig 1-4). Once you have that, select it all, copy (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) it (being sure not to leave it overlapping your other half, as it will erase it) (see Fig 1-5), flip your new selection horizontally (Modify>Transform>Flip Horizontal) and then put the two halves together (see Fig 1-6). Then all you’ll need to do is color it; I gave mine a red fill (#FF0000) and a dark red stroke (#990000) (see Fig 1-7). |
